A Shocking But Hilarious Experience With A Funeral Director In Sydney
An Australian family was deeply stunned when a man came out from the bushes and drove off with a hearse carrying a body of their relative just minutes before his funeral. It’s a scenario that will need the funeral director in Sydney to calm the relatives and alert authorities.
The couple, named Hayley West and her husband Tobias Richardson, were organising the funeral service of their brother-in-law Seth when a carjacker made his wrong move.
“Just when they were at the school lobby and while the funeral director in Sydney was picking up a trolley to place the coffin on, someone jumped out from the bushes, went into the hearse and started the engine,” said Miss West to the ABC radio.
A staff from the funeral home came banging at the window, saying “What are you doing? You can’t drive away in a hearse”.
Everyone was surprised about the situation and kept saying “Oh my God, the hearse is stolen.”
Mr. Richardson jumped into his car and chased the thief, as Miss West contacted the police, and an aghast crowd spectated the chase.
The West and New South Wales police said, “the hearse was driven around the grounds of the school, while Mr. Richardson tried to block the car from being driven any further. He then yelled at the guy and asked what he was doing. And the guy meekly said he needed to go to the hospital.”
Sydney police authorities arrived minutes later to take the man away, claiming he suffered from dementia and has gone missing from a nursing home earlier on Thursday. “The culprit was detained at the scene and brought to the hospital for assessment. No further police action was taken from the incident,” the police officer said.
Miss West said the funeral service went on as planned after the hearse with their relative’s body was returned. The deceased could have laughed at the funny side of the incident. He would have thought the event was hilarious. Thanks to the funeral director in Sydney, the funeral went on as planned.
