China Investigating The Spending Of Its Army
As part of China’s movement to crack any trace of corruption in the country, it is now leading an investigation into the spending of their army.
This decision was made after it was revealed that their armed forces are involved in graft and the organization is widely affected. The Communist Party which rules China has decided that the military staff’s income will be investigated and will probing might last for a year or so, according to the media.
The corruption inside the armed forces is seen by the party leaders as a major threat in China’s campaign for a more modern military force. For a decade now, the army budget’s noticeable increase up to the double digit is alarming.
President Xi Jinping is leading the Central Military Commission in China and has declared that all military personnel will be subjected to the investigation.
Zhao Keshi will be the one overseeing the audit since he is the head of the general logistics department in the army. The audit will focus on the all the expenses, the cash flows as well as all the receipts and this will be tracked in order to find any traces of embezzlement.
Zhao has already expressed his concerns and remarked that the investigation may be seen as far reaching and there may be a matter of conflicts of interest.
As the leader of the Communist Party and the military, Xi has expressed his desire to make sure that the endemic corruption is cracked to its core because this is the very issue that has flamed the anger of the citizens of China.
The People’s Liberation Army of China has revealed that 16 senior officers belonging in the corps level and beyond since 2014 is already being investigated since last month.
It was only last year that Gu Junshan, top military officer in China, has received a corruption charge after it was found out that he owns at least a dozen residential properties.
Items were seized from one of his residences which include stylish wash basins and boat made of gold as well as a statue of Mao Zedong which is also made from gold. There are also crates confiscated which contains expensive liquor.
