Spain’s Infidelity Market Is Profitable
With news of sites like Ashley Madison, people openly wonder how much money there is in businesses that tackle married dating UK and across the world. If Spain’s infidelity market is any indication, there’s quite a lot.
With men and women across the world looking for extramarital trysts, married dating UK and across the world has only become more profitable. In Spain, which has about 11,280,000 marriages and de facto relationships based on 2018 data from the National Institute of Statistics, the infidelity market has dating apps, love hotels, and even specialized software.
As for an exact figure on the market, no one’s telling.
Ashley Madison Europe Division Head Christoph Kraemer says that, between the personal ads, the presents, the trips, the hotels, the restaurants, infidelity is a massive market that generates billions across the world, amounting to a not-insignificant contribution to GDPs.
His site, Ashley Madison, has 1.56 million members in Spain alone. Alongside their site is Victoria Milan with 625,000 Spanish members, and Gleedon, among others, with the last one having 700,000 members in Spain, 40% of which are women.
Alongside the infidelity sites, love hotels have also gotten popular in the country, now being built in city centers, like Alcala de Henares’ Zouk, of the Punt14 in Barcelona. These establishments rent rooms by the hour, with complimentary shampoo, chocolates, and, of course, condoms.
Notably, love hotels are potentially more profitable than their traditional cousins, several times over, due to them renting by the hour, negating the operational costs.
Mobile apps have also taken off in the infidelity industry, like Tigertex, which deletes everything; messages, call records, etc., from designated number and the like.
On the other end of the spectrum, private eyes are also taking off. Spanish Association of Professional Private Detectives Head Enrique Hormiga says that fees are around €55 and €110 per hour for an op that lasts for about 3 days. He says that the APDPE have about 400 members, and while catching infidelity only amounts to a percentage of most private detectives’ workloads, there are private eye firms that specialize in infidelity, like Infidelity, which handles around 150 cases annually.
